Developing yourself to become a better version of you is not something you can achieve in one day. Not even in one year for that matter. Yes you will see feel and experience some difference after a couple of days, but personal development is a lifelong process.
I’ve search the internet for you and gathered the most common tools for self development used by many these days. These tips and tools will help you grow during your personal growth journey. Enjoy your read and remember that the most important thing to do next is not to only write notes……but to take action !!
First you need to ask yourself why personal development is so important…
Abraham Maslow explains and suggests that all individuals have an in-built need to develop themselves. It’s called self-actualization. He’s known for his Hierarchy of Needs pyramid. I urge you to take a look at it after reading this post.
There are a lot of things you can do to improve yourself…..
Start by reading books every day. Now I’m not saying you have to read a book a day, but for example read for 30 minutes first thing in the morning or before you go to bed. For me audio books are working perfectly. Instead of listening to the radio while driving, I listen to audio books. I even listen to them during my workouts.
Waking up early is another way to improve your productivity and quality of life…
This is something that has been acknowledged by many people like Tony Robbins, Dwayne Johnson and many other successful people. Stop pressing that snooze button. Make it a habit to wake up at 5-6am or at least 2 hours before you have to leave the house. Use this time to get yourself in the right state of mind and keep that momentum going.
Make a to do list and stay focused with it…
It’s recommended that you make your list before you go to bed. Start with easy to do tasks to get used in using your list. For example I use an app called Wunderlist to write down my daily tasks like groceries or taking the trash out. There are many other apps available. Find one that works for you and get used to working from a list.
Quit a bad habit. It doesn’t matter which one it is, as long as you stay on track…..
Try to avoid negative people and at the same time learn to deal with difficult people….
You know the saying ” You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most of your time with”. Or ” Tell me who your friends are and i’ll tell you what kind of person you are” . This is absolutely true. Don’t spend to much time around negative people cause they will drag you down and use up all your energy.
Keep gaining new knowledge. It doesn’t have to be a long course. Start with webinars and seminars. These usually take 30 to 45 minutes of your time and are a great way to learn for free.
Start exercising and get used to a healthy eating lifestyle…..
Now I know you have heard of this one before, yet many don’t do it. If you’re not a gym rat, start by walking everyday for at least 30 minutes. You can even combine your walking with listening to an audio book.
Find something that excites you and pursue it…. This is key in self motivation. Be honest with yourself about the things that you really find stimulating.
” Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work”
At the end of the day it all starts with getting yourself in the right mindset….
Take action and find ways to motivate yourself. Try meditating for a change. Listen to inspirational en motivational people. there is a bunch of them on the internet. people like Tony Robins , Les Brown, Brian Tracy just to name a few.
Books you mind find interesting to read are :
- Think and grow rich- napoleon Hill
- It’s not over until you win- Les Brown
- Self development and the way to power- L.W. Rogers
- Get Smart- Brian Tracy
- Eat that frog- Brian Tracy
